Creating Picture-Perfect Wedding Backdrops: Tips for Stunning Photos

One of the most important aspects of a wedding is capturing those unforgettable moments. And what better way to preserve the magic of your big day than with stunning photographs? A beautiful backdrop can transform an ordinary photo into an extraordinary one. Whether it’s for the ceremony, reception, or photo booth, designing a breathtaking backdrop that complements your wedding theme can add a personalized touch and make your photos pop.

If you're planning your wedding decor and want to create the perfect photo backdrop, this blog will give you some creative ideas and tips to help you design a space that will leave everyone in awe!

1. Choose Your Wedding Style and Theme

Before diving into specific design ideas, it’s essential to consider your overall wedding style. Whether you’re going for rustic, boho, modern, vintage, or classic vibes, your backdrop should reflect that style. For example:

  • Rustic: Think of wooden elements, greenery, and fairy lights.
  • Boho: Incorporate pampas grass and earthy tones.
  • Modern: Sleek and minimal with geometric shapes, glass, or metallic elements.
  • Vintage: Vintage furniture, lace, and antique decor pieces.

Matching your backdrop to your theme will ensure it complements the rest of your wedding decor and sets the mood for your photos.

2. Floral Backdrops: Nature’s Beauty

Floral backdrops are timeless and always create a romantic atmosphere. Depending on your wedding season and preferred colours, you can choose from a wide variety of flowers to create your ideal backdrop.

  • Full Floral Wall: A wall completely covered in lush blooms provides a lush, elegant backdrop that screams romance. Use your wedding colours for a coordinated look or choose an all-white floral wall for a classic, ethereal touch.
  • Floral Arch: A floral arch or a half-wall with hanging florals creates an incredible focal point for photos. This works beautifully for both indoor and outdoor weddings.
  • Flower Installations: Depending on your venue, you may be able to have a custom flower arrangement made. We love the hanging basket style installations – they are a great way to draw the eye up and to incorporate your flowers and colours.

3. Statement Lighting: Setting the Mood

Lighting can truly elevate your backdrop and bring a sense of magic to your photos. Whether it’s the glow from chandeliers or the twinkle of fairy lights, lighting sets the ambiance for your big day.

  • String Lights: Simple yet effective, string lights can be draped over your backdrop, creating a soft, warm glow. You can hang them in clusters, create a curtain of lights, or arrange them in a zigzag pattern for extra drama.
  • Neon Signs: For a modern and playful touch, a custom neon sign can serve as the perfect backdrop. A sign with your wedding hashtag, names, or a fun quote will add a unique and Instagram-worthy element to your photos. We offer a few standard signs, but we also offer full customisable signs that are yours to keep!

4. Fabric Drapes: Flowing Elegance

Soft, flowing fabric adds depth and texture to any photo backdrop. It’s especially effective if you're working with a larger space and want to make it feel intimate.

  • Drapes: White and neutral toned drapes can give an ethereal look, allowing natural light to shine through, creating a dreamy effect. We can also created draped door entrances to make sure your guests understand your vibe from the second they walk through the door.
  • Draped Over Structures: Frame your backdrop with fabric drapes attached to a structure, such as a wooden frame or arch, for a more polished and cohesive look.

5. Geometric & Modern Designs

For couples who want a more contemporary or minimalist feel, geometric designs are an excellent choice for creating a chic backdrop.

  • Geometric Shapes: Use metallic or wooden frames to create geometric shapes like triangles, hexagons, or diamonds. You can fill them with greenery or leave them open for a modern twist. Adding candles to the base of them can also be beautiful and really stand out in photos, especially if your venue is on the darker side.
  • Mirrored Elements: Incorporate reflective surfaces like mirrors or acrylic panels for a sleek and sophisticated backdrop. They’ll bounce light beautifully and can give your photos an interesting depth.

6. Personalized Backdrops

One of the most unique ways to create a memorable photo backdrop is by personalizing it with meaningful touches that reflect you and your partner’s personalities.

  • Photo Collages: Create a photo wall featuring pictures of your love story—from the day you met to your engagement photos. This will give your guests an intimate glimpse into your journey as a couple.
  • Custom Signage: Incorporate a custom sign that has your wedding hashtag, a favorite quote, or your names. Consider using large LED letters or a chalkboard sign for a rustic feel, or go for a metallic or acrylic sign for a more polished look.

7. Nature-Inspired Backdrops

If you’re hosting an outdoor wedding, use your natural surroundings to your advantage. Consider the beauty of the landscape as part of your backdrop.

  • Garden Vibes: Set up your backdrop in front of a beautiful garden or floral display. Add some hanging lanterns or garlands to highlight the natural beauty around you. We also love the use of festoon lighting outside.

8. Photo Booth Backdrops

Photo booths have become a staple at weddings, and the right backdrop can take the fun factor to the next level. For a photo booth backdrop, think about:

  • Themed Decor: Consider props or decor that match your wedding theme, like vintage furniture for a retro vibe or metallic streamers for a glamorous touch.
  • Floral and Greenery Elements: Incorporate floral arrangements, potted plants, or artificial greenery for a natural and organic look.

9. Interactive Backdrops

Make your wedding backdrop even more engaging by creating something interactive that guests will love to be a part of.

  • Polaroid Wall: Set up a photo backdrop where guests can take Polaroids and pin them to a board for everyone to see. This adds a fun and personal touch to your wedding decor.
  • Wishing Tree: Another interactive idea is a wishing tree where guests can leave messages or hang their wishes for the couple. Not only does it serve as a beautiful backdrop, but it also doubles as a sweet memento for you to cherish after the wedding.

Final Thoughts

The key to a fantastic wedding photo backdrop is creating something that speaks to you and your partner’s personalities while enhancing the overall wedding vibe. Whether you choose a romantic floral wall, a modern geometric design, or a personalized photo collage, the right backdrop can elevate your wedding photos and provide unforgettable memories.

So, get creative and experiment with different materials, colours, and ideas. The possibilities are endless, and with the right design, your wedding photos will be cherished for years to come. Happy planning, and don’t forget to smile—your perfect backdrop awaits!

Venue Styling for Weddings Through the Seasons: How to Create the Perfect Ambience Year-Round

17th February 2025

When planning a wedding, choosing the perfect venue is just one part of the equation. The way you style the venue can completely transform the space and bring your vision to life. One of the most exciting but also challenging aspects of wedding styling is deciding how to dress the venue for different seasons. Each season offers its own set of colours and textures, which can serve as a fantastic foundation for your wedding theme. Whether you're dreaming of a spring celebration or a winter wonderland, here's how to style your venue according to the season.

Spring: Fresh, Light, and Floral

Spring is all about renewal and fresh beginnings, and your venue can reflect this with soft, romantic elements. Think of flowers in full bloom, pastel colour palettes, and natural light pouring in through open windows.

Key Styling Elements for Spring Weddings:

  • Florals Everywhere: Spring is synonymous with flowers, so don’t be afraid to go all out with floral arrangements. Consider lush flower walls, foliage garlands, or centrepieces bursting with peonies, tulips, daffodils, and daisies.
  • Pastel Palettes: Soft hues like blush pink, lavender, mint green, and pale blue work beautifully for spring weddings. You can incorporate these colours in the table settings, linens, and even in the attire. We particularly love our pale blue chiffon chair drapes, and our pale pink stonewash linen napkins.
  • Natural, Light Textures: Choosing light fabrics such as lace, linen, and chiffon for tablecloths, drapery, and chair covers keeps a nice light, fresh feel. Natural wood elements, like wooden signage or rustic barn doors, complement this fresh aesthetic beautifully.
  •

Spring Venue Tips: If you’re hosting your wedding outdoors or in a venue with large windows, take advantage of the natural scenery by allowing the surrounding greenery to become part of the décor.

Summer: Vibrant, Fun, and Festive

Summer weddings are synonymous with energy, fun, and bold colours. This season allows for creative freedom and offers endless possibilities to infuse your venue with personality.

Key Styling Elements for Summer Weddings:

  • Bright, Bold Colours: Summer is the time to embrace vibrant colours. Think coral, fuchsia, royal blue, sunny yellow, or even tropical hues like turquoise and orange. These can be incorporated into everything from your floral arrangements to your table settings.
  • Light Fabrics & Airy Drapery: Summer heat calls for breathable, light fabrics. Consider using lightweight linen, cotton, or organza.
  • Fun, Casual Vibes: If you’re having a more casual celebration, think picnic-style tables, lounge seating areas with cushions, or even outdoor games to entertain your guests.
  •

Summer Venue Tips: Outdoor venues like beachside resorts, gardens, or rooftops work wonderfully for summer. If your venue is indoors, large windows or open-air spaces can make your celebration feel breezy and relaxed.

Autumn: Warm, Cosy, and Intimate

Autumn is a season that naturally brings warmth, richness, and a touch of nostalgia. From the fall foliage to the cosy atmosphere, an autumn wedding can feel incredibly intimate and inviting.

Key Styling Elements for Autumn Weddings:

  • Earthy Tones: The autumn colour palette is rich and earthy, with shades of burgundy, burnt orange, gold, mustard, and deep brown. These colours can be woven into the décor through florals, linens, candles, and even the bridal party attire.
  • Textures & Layers: Autumn is the perfect time to incorporate more texture into your venue styling. Think hessian and rich velvet for table runners, chair covers, and drapery. Incorporate wood accents, such as wooden signage, cake stands, and centrepieces.
  • Seasonal Florals & Foliage: Autumn weddings are all about creating a warm, rustic vibe with seasonal florals like dahlias, sunflowers, and marigolds, along with plenty of autumnal foliage like ivy, maple leaves, and eucalyptus.
  •

Autumn Venue Tips: Many venues already come with a cosy, rustic charm in the autumn, so if you're opting for an indoor venue, think about using a fireplace or warm lighting to create an intimate, glowing atmosphere.

Winter: Magical, Elegant, and Sparkling

Winter weddings are often associated with elegance and a touch of magic. The crispness in the air, the sparkle of frost, and the holiday season all lead to a romantic and enchanting setting.

Key Styling Elements for Winter Weddings:

  • Rich, Luxe Colours: For winter weddings, jewel tones like emerald green, sapphire blue, and ruby red feel festive and elegant. You can also opt for classic metallics like silver, gold, and rose gold for a more glamorous, chic look.
  • Sparkling Accents: Winter weddings often feature shimmering elements, from twinkling fairy lights to glittering table runners. Consider adding a touch of sparkle through sequins, crystals, or candles that flicker in the winter night.
  • Cosy Touches: Bring in cosy accents like faux fur throws and plush pillows. Consider offering guests warm drinks like mulled wine or hot chocolate for a comforting touch.
  • Winter Florals: While flowers may not be in bloom in many areas, winter florals such as amaryllis, anemones, and poinsettias can add a pop of colour. Pinecones, holly, and evergreen branches are also beautiful additions for a winter wonderland feel. We personally love a sprig of holly and a pinecone nestled in the back of a chair drape!
  •

Winter Venue Tips: If you’re having a winter wedding, opt for venues with an indoor space that has a lot of character, like a grand ballroom or a venue with a large fireplace. You can also consider venues with outdoor wintry elements, like a snowy mountain lodge or an outdoor tent draped with fairy lights.

Final Thoughts: Style Your Venue to Reflect Your Vision

Ultimately, the key to styling a wedding venue in any season is to choose elements that resonate with your personal style and wedding vision. Whether you’re dreaming of a light and airy spring wedding or a cosy and intimate winter celebration, the right venue styling can set the perfect mood and create an unforgettable atmosphere for you and your guests.

By paying attention to the natural beauty and characteristics of each season, you can design a wedding that feels not only stunning but also authentic to the time of year. So, embrace the season’s vibe, and let your venue become a reflection of your love story!

Why Now Is the Perfect Time to Book Your Wedding Suppliers

15th January 2025

Planning a wedding can be an exhilarating journey filled with excitement, dreams, and visions of your perfect day. Yet, amid all the joy, there’s a crucial aspect that often gets overlooked: booking your wedding suppliers. Here’s why now is the perfect time to lock in those essential vendors and ensure a smooth and memorable wedding experience.

1. Secure Your Preferred Suppliers

The wedding industry is bustling, and the best suppliers get booked months, if not years, in advance. By booking early, you guarantee that you’ll have your top choices for photographers, florists, caterers, and more. This means you’ll be working with professionals whose style and quality align perfectly with your vision.

2. Avoid Last-Minute Stress

Nothing heightens wedding planning stress more than scrambling to find available suppliers at the last minute. Early booking allows you to tick off essential tasks from your checklist, giving you peace of mind and more time to focus on the fun aspects of wedding planning, like choosing your dress or planning your honeymoon. Ensure your suppliers have their phone number and business address publicly available, if not this is a red flag.

3. Better Rates and Deals

Many suppliers offer discounts or special deals for early bookings, and many have deals and offers at the start of each New Year. By securing your suppliers now, you might benefit from lower rates, package deals, or added perks that won’t be available closer to your wedding date. This can help you stay within your budget while still getting top-quality services. Confirm the rates quoted at the time of booking are not subject to any increases.

4. Personalised Attention and Planning

When you book early, you give your suppliers ample time to understand your needs and tailor their services to your wedding. This leads to a more personalised experience, as vendors can work closely with you to bring your vision to life, without the stress that comes with last-minute arrangements.

5. Flexibility and Availability

Booking early gives you more flexibility with your wedding date and venue. You’ll have a better chance of securing your dream location and suppliers who might otherwise be unavailable if you wait too long. This means fewer compromises and more opportunities to create the wedding you’ve always imagined.

6. Building a Relationship

Early booking allows you to build a strong relationship with your suppliers. This can be incredibly valuable as they get to know you and your preferences over time. A good rapport with your vendors can lead to a seamless collaboration and a more enjoyable planning process.

7. Planning Ahead for Trends

The wedding industry is constantly evolving, with new trends emerging each year. By booking your suppliers now, you can ensure they have enough time to incorporate the latest trends into your wedding. Whether it’s a unique floral arrangement, cutting-edge photography techniques, or innovative catering ideas, early planning allows for creativity and innovation.

So why wait? Start reaching out to your preferred wedding suppliers today and secure your dream team. Your future self will thank you for the foresight and preparation, allowing you to focus on what truly matters: celebrating your love and creating beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Happy planning!

2023's Top 5 Trends

April 20, 2023

As we move through 2023, wedding decor trends are expected to evolve and adapt to reflect the changing times. From bold and dramatic designs to more understated and minimalistic themes, there's sure to be something to suit every couple's taste and style!

1. Vintage-Inspired Glamour

The roaring 20s have made a comeback, and vintage-inspired glamour is proving to be a popular theme in 2023. Think art deco inspired motifs, old Hollywood style gowns, and opulent metallic finishes. A vintage-inspired wedding can be perfect for couples who want to add a touch of timeless elegance to their special day—and they live on beautifully in pictures.

2. Sustainability

As the world becomes more environmentally conscious, sustainable wedding decor is set to become increasingly popular in 2023 and we couldn’t be happier! Couples will be looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and create an eco-friendlier wedding, using recycled and natural materials, such as bamboo and wood, and incorporating organic and locally sourced elements, like flowers and food. Event hire companies, like us, make sure to get the most out of each item, reusing and repurposing things to give them a long and earth-conscious lifespan. We stop the single use cycle for plastics, fake flowers, and wedding specific décor as often as possible!

3. Bold Colours

In 2023, we’re seeing bold and bright colours dominating the wedding decor scene. From rich jewel tones to vibrant primary shades, couples will be opting for eye-catching colour palettes to create a dynamic and lively atmosphere. Bold colour choices can be used to accentuate other design elements, such as florals, tablescapes, and lighting.

4. Minimalism

On the other end of the spectrum, minimalism will also continue to be a popular trend in 2023. Clean lines, neutral colours, and simple decor elements can create an elegant and refined wedding atmosphere. Minimalist designs can also be cost-effective, as fewer elements are needed to create a striking impact. It’s a classic for a reason.

5. Natural Elements

Bringing the outdoors in will remain a popular wedding decor trend in 2023. Expect to see lush greenery, natural wood, and organic elements incorporated into wedding decor. Potted plants, hanging vines, and botanical accents can add a natural and relaxed feel to any wedding setting. We especially love small foliage details, such as a bit of eucalyptus in the back of a chair drape.

Whether you're planning a bold and vibrant wedding or a more subdued and minimalist celebration, there's sure to be a wedding decor trend in 2023 that suits your style. From sustainable elements to vintage glamour, couples will have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to designing their dream wedding, and we can’t wait to help you make it happen!

What's new for 2022?

Dec 11, 2021

With just a few weeks to go until the New Year, we thought we would focus on some new and exciting products that we have coming out in 2022!

One of our favourite new items has to be our stunning hexagonal arch. We are so excited to trial different styling options and this fresh, modern design has already proved popular. From draping to florals, there are so many options and we can't wait to get started.

Images via Pinterest

We love using neutral colours with hints of pink, but we espeically love them during Spring. With this in mind, we have our brand new mauve sash and drape, mint sashes, blue chiffon drapes and napkins ranging from Stone to Eau de Nil - all perfect for a fresh start to 2022. We can't wait to start using them.

If you’re wondering what options you have for a more rustic theme, have you thought about our wooden crates? They look beautiful with ivy laden bird cages, florals of your choice (fresh or silk both look wonderful) and of course, fairy lights. Whatever you have in mind, or however you’d like to style them, we can find the solution for you.

If you're looking for different floral vase options, we have some stunning gold fishbowls and pumpkin bowls that we have recently launched. They are beautiful as part of a centrepiece and they really popped when we styled them recently with some greenery and pink florals.

Not a fan of gold? Take a look at our brand new silver bowl vases. We have styled them up here with pretty florals and trailing ivy. The Pantone colour of the year has also just been announced. It is a gorgeous berry purple colour, much like the florals we chose for this display.

And finally, if you want something to dress your chairs but want to steer away from a traditional cover and sash, why not opt for a chair drape? You have the option to add some foliage, for example eucalyptus to give a lovely fresh vibe. You could also stay more traditional and add a thistle, or any co-ordinating floral of your choosing. Or, if this doesn’t quite feel right, why not include a brooch to add a little sparkle? Whatever you’re dreaming of, we have the answer.

We hope you have enjoyed this sneak peek into some new things coming in 2022. We have a lot more exciting products and projects coming so stay tuned!

Happy 14th Birthday, Beautifully Covered!

Nov 17, 2021

After another unpredictable year, the team here at Beautifully Covered have been kept busy planning and styling your wonderful events. We have lots of exciting things coming up before we enter into 2022, but before we get into that, we thought as we have just celebrated our 14th birthday we would take a trip down memory lane…

Our Managing Director Keo started this company back in 2007. With her strong work ethic, the right team around her and the relationships she has built with other people in the industry, Beautifully Covered has thrived. We have styled birthday parties and naming ceremonies, and of course weddings, but we have also been involved in some very special things too. We took part in a Guinness World Record and we even had to help prepare for a very special Cop26 attendee…

Through our attention to detail and our desire to bring every clients wishes to life, we have also been lucky enough to be nominated, and win, various awards. Looking back, there is a lot to be proud of.

In the 14 years since this company started, Keo has had a team of loyal girls by her side. As a team of 6 women, we bring a variety of experiences to the table. From knowledge of florals, to social media experience, exceptional organisational skills and perfecting the art of bow-tying, we all unite as one team to make each client’s dream a reality.

No two days ever look the same and there never seem to be enough hours in the day, but having come through the pandemic with not a single cancellation, we are loving every minute of it. We are enjoying spending time at some of our favourite venues once again, for example Dalmahoy, Grange Manor and Glasshouse. Between hosting a client’s first consultation to finalising all the details, picking fresh florals from the flower market and pressing every satin sash, we are always kept on our toes. But with Keo leading the way, we are able to succeed even on the busiest days. We always aim to keep up with trends and offer the most up-to-date colours and styles. We also love when a new challenge presents itself, as it allows us to be creative and sparks ideas we may not have thought of before.

Overall, we feel extremely grateful to be ending the year with a busy calendar, and we can’t wait to see what 2022 brings. Big events feel even more special now that we are all able to celebrate together again, so to be part of that joy has been incredibly rewarding.

We look forward to keeping you up to date as we head into Christmas!
